Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all well and as excited for this year’s event as I am. I can’t wait to share a stage with you in June! Apologies for the delay in getting this list to you. We have been waiting on confirmation for some songs, but thankfully we now have a definite list.
I’m sure many of you know how this works by now, but for those of you who haven’t been to Taikopalooza, here’s a quick rundown of how things will go.
1) Have a look at the setlist and choose which songs and parts you’d like to play.
2) Fill out this Concert Song questionnaire with your choices.
3) I will collate the information and assign parts.
4) If we need spots filled, I’ll ask for volunteers to either switch or play another part.
5) You spend the next few months practising. 😉
That’s pretty much it. Simple, right?
As you’ll see, the setlist this year has some new additions but features plenty of TP favourites. Hopefully you’ll agree that there’s plenty to get your teeth into. Choose as many as you wish, but bear in mind you might not get to play on every song you select. Some parts are limited (Odaiko, Shime, etc.), and a few of the songs will be overseen by the relevant composer, so they will have the final decision on how many people participate. This is simply to attain the correct balance in the song and have it sound as intended.
The resources for each song can be found in the Concert Song Folder here:
Inside you’ll find a “Concert Resources” document. This will have links to all available videos and resources for each piece. Please use this as your primary source of information.
Additional resources for certain songs (mp3s, kuchi shouga, structure docs, etc.) can also be found inside, each with its own separate folder. If you’re struggling to find something, just ask and I’ll do my best to help. There are a few gaps, but I’ll be updating the folder with more info as I get it. If something is missing, I’ll try to source it for you.
